OJOBOCA – Metacinematic Variations: The Fourth Wall

Category:

LaborBerlin is happy to invite you all on the 7th and 8th of June OJOBOCA’s presentation at S.P.A.C.E. in Wiesenstraße 29, the residency space that LaborBerlin is running in the context of the SPECTRAL project.

OJOBOCA will present their work Metacinematic Variations: The Fourth Wall, an installation utilizing PDLC film, also known as Smart Glass, to create a screen that alternates between opaque and transparent states. The screen is centrally positioned in the room, serving as a canvas for projecting 35mm slides that depict the same room.

This work is inspired by the possibly fictitious film The Fourth Wall, attributed to the anonymous film group The Metacinematic Order. Although we have not seen this film, we know of it through possibly fabricated reviews.

OJOBOCA is a Berlin-based artist duo composed of Anja Dornieden and Juan David González Monroy. They describe their practice as Orrorism, a simulated method of inner and outer transformation. Since 2010, OJOBOCA has produced a series of experimental films, installations, and performances showcased at film festivals and art venues worldwide.

Screen design by Ivan Kiss. PDLC film with the support of Tristan Braun.
