We are happy to invite you on the 2nd of July to an evening of 16mm short experimental Canadian films and a performance of 35mm flickering urchins, a homage to the genius of Ken Jacobs and Jean Painlevé, with music by Merlin Campbell, the complicity of Miguel Morin and Martin Chateauvert, and thanks to the Laboratoire CinéMédias and the CinEXmédia partnership.
The evening will begin with a curated program of historic and contemporary Canadian experimental films, all on 16mm, that dialogue with key issues in early cinema.

André Habib is a professor of film studies at the University of Montreal. He has written on Ken Jacobs, Bill Morrison, Louise Bourque, Karl Lemieux, Daïchi Saïto, Ernie Gehr, Joseph Cornell, Jean-Luc Godard, on film collectors, cinephilia, melancholia, nostalgia, Iranian cinema, found footage film practices, Kodachrome, archives, ruins. He is the director of the Journal Hors champ, the initiator of the platform Zoom Out (zoom-out.ca), Obsolescence (obsolescence.ca) and the project Cadavre exquis (cadavrexquis.ca).
