LaborBerlin is pleased to welcome La Cellule d’Intervention METAMKINE for a live performance combining 16mm film, projection and electroacoustic sound.
Founded in 1987, METAMKINE is an open-ended group of filmmakers and musicians exploring the relationship between image and sound. For this performance, Christophe Auger and Xavier Quérel work with 16mm films and projectors, while Jérôme Noetinger performs with electroacoustic devices.
With multiple 16mm projectors, mirrors and live editing, METAMKINE creates a constantly shifting interplay of image and sound. Film fragments are projected, reflected and layered across the space, while tape loops and electronic sounds are shaped live alongside them. Rather than following a fixed sequence, the performance develops in the moment, with image and sound continuously influencing one another.
For nearly four decades, METAMKINE has presented its work at festivals, cinemas, galleries and contemporary art spaces across Europe and internationally, continually pushing cinema beyond the screen and into the realm of live performance.
