In 2003 a collaboration between Jefre Cantu-Ledesma & Paul Clipson was begun. The duo create unique live performances with music and film. They have released a number of DVDr’s on Root Strata as well as Within Mirrors, a DVD collection of their collaborations. They have performed at the New York Film Festival, San Francisco Film Festival, San Francisco Museum Of Modern Art, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts as well has having their film collaborations screened at a number of international film & music festivals.

This September, Jefre and Paul have embarked on a European sound/film performance tour, which will take them to London, Rotterdam, Tilburg, Geneva, Zagreb, Mallorca, Lisbon and Essen. Don’t miss the magic!

Jefre Cantu-Ledesma is a Berlin based artist and musician. He is a founding member of Tarentel; and since 1995, he has recorded and toured internationally with the group. While Tarentel was on hiatus, he began recording and releasing music under his own name. His recordings have appeared on a wide variety of labels, including Root Strata, the label he founded in 2004. Jefre Cantu-Ledesma’s most recent Love is a Stream album has been released on UK’s experimental record label Type in late 2010 to critical acclaim.

Paul Clipson has shown his films internationally in various galleries, festivals and performance venues. He works primarily in film, video and works on paper. Since 2003, Clipson has collaborated on film/music performances, documentaries and short films with sound/music artists such as Tarentel, Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, Joshua Churchill, Barn Owl, Tashi Wada and Metal Rouge, projecting largely improvised in-camera edited experimental films employing multiple exposures, dissolves and macro imagery, that bring to light subconscious preoccupations and unexpected visual forms.
